CARDUUS BENEDICTUS

As prescribed by the physician.

• Carduus benedictus is a significant homoeopathic medicine prepared from the flowering plant Cnicus benedictus sourced from Compositae family, known for its prominent action on the vascular system, sensory nerves, and mucous membranes. It is particularly suited for individuals with venous congestion, sensory hypersensitivity, and gastric irritation, often accompanied by dullness, anxiety, and a sensation of internal tightness or pressure. The medicine is indicated in conditions presenting with pressure-like symptoms, visual disturbances, nerve excitement, and a range of febrile or eruptive phenomena. It is especially helpful where skin eruptions, dry cough, dizziness, and nervous trembling signal systemic imbalance. Common Name: Blessed Thistle SBL’s Carduus benedictus can be helpful in the following condition: Visual and Sensory Disturbances • Aids in dimness of vision with whirling and grey or black spots before the eyes. • Relieves flickering before the left eye as if fiery stars were passing; improved by winking. • Addresses sensation as if the eyeballs would be pressed outward, sometimes pleasant. • Supports quivering in the left canthus, painful tickling in the left eye with tear flow. • Helps with roaring and ringing in ears; feeling as if something burst inside, followed by humming. Pressure, Heaviness, and Tightness • Relieves pressure in the occiput from the crown; forehead pressure worsens while stooping. • Manages interrupted stitching in the temples, more on the left side. • Aids in sensation of heaviness in the head and dull shooting in the sides over the hips. • Addresses pressure on the eyes as if they would pop out. • Supports feelings of tightness in the chest, as if laced too tightly; difficulty breathing deeply. Stomach Burning and Sour Taste • Relieves bitter burning in the stomach as if severely deranged. • Manages bad appetite, nausea, vomiting, and constant yawning with hiccough. • Though the stomach feels full, it feels empty—Carduus supports this contradictory sensation. • Aids in sour taste lasting several days, becoming almost sulphurous; temporarily better after eating. Abdominal Colic and Bowel Irregularities • Addresses constant drawing, cutting pain in the abdomen, with slight pinching near the navel. • Supports strange abdominal sounds, especially on the right side of the navel. • Manages episodes of diarrhoea and flatulence. Respiratory Irritation and Cough • Relieves hoarseness and frequent rough, hissing cough. • Supports pain in the trachea as if inflamed or strained from long coughing. • Manages breathlessness with effortful inspiration, trachea feeling closed; low whistle on breathing. • Aids in sensation of cold air being drawn in during inhalation. • Addresses inability to sing or speak for long due to tracheal fatigue. Limb Sensations and Movement Issues • Relieves cracking in joints, with difficult motion and dull bone pain. • Supports heaviness of limbs as if paralyzed, worse during fever. • Manages spontaneous muscular tension and pain when limbs are stretched. • Addresses bruised feeling in limbs and pain in veins that are tender and prominent. • Aids in contraction and burning in arms, especially when leaning on them; trembling in hands. • Helps with weak knees that give way while walking, and sore soles after sitting. Skin Eruptions and Surface Changes • Manages painless nettle-rash-like eruption with goose-skin texture, preceded by chills. • Supports small red spots on fingers followed by persistent yellow spots. • Relieves burning sensation under the skin, beginning on the face and spreading.
