LEONUORUS CARDIACA

As prescribed by the physician.

• Leonurus cardiaca is a valuable homoeopathic medicine prepared from the fresh plant of Leonurus cardiac of Labiatae (Mint family), known for its action on the gastrointestinal tract, mucous membranes, and circulatory system. It is especially indicated in conditions involving dysentery, intestinal hemorrhage, and gastric irritation. Characterized by dryness of the mucous membranes, cracked tongue, and bloody stools, it is particularly beneficial in acute gastrointestinal infections with violent abdominal pain, retching, and sensitivity to touch. The medicine also exerts a notable influence on nervous and vascular tone, making it beneficial in states of exhaustion following hemorrhage or inflammatory bowel conditions. Common Name: Motherwort SBL’s Leonurus cardiaca can be helpful in the following conditions: Eye and Mucous Membrane Dryness • Indicated in conjunctival dryness where the eyes appear as if wiped dry, with no visible moisture. • Leonurus cardiaca may be useful for complaints marked by dryness of the mucous membranes, might occure during febrile or dehydrated states. Dryness and Coated Tongue • Characteristic tongue dryness, often coated brownish-white, and cracked in a tree-like (arborescent) pattern, with a deep central fissure. • Useful in febrile or dysenteric states with oral dryness and cracked appearance of the tongue. Gastrointestinal Irritation and Thirst • Patients experience intense thirst, but even small sips of water (warm or cold) provoke epigastric pain. • Beneficial for gastric irritation, especially where thirst is present but relief is elusive or water intake leads to discomfort. • Often associated with retching and vomiting, particularly shortly after ingestion of the medicine or liquids. Abdominal Pain and Sensitivity • Relieves severe abdominal pain, especially when associated with soreness to touch. • Abdominal pain improves when lying on the side with legs drawn up or when lying on the back with legs extended straight. • Valuable in bowel conditions where physical posture relieves visceral pain. Dysentery and Intestinal Hemorrhage • Leonurus cardiaca is useful in dysenteric states, with frequent calls to stool during the night. • Initial dark brown stools, later progressing to bloody stools, often without mucus.
